About Me
Basil is a founding partner of Atom Investors and serves as its Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer.
Previously, Basil founded Novus Partners in 2007 and served as the company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Basil built Novus into the world’s largest portfolio intelligence firm, with over one hundred employees and hundreds of clients managing a total of over $3.5 trillion in assets under management.
Prior to founding Novus, Basil was a member of the long/short equity team at Ivy Asset Management, which was responsible for managing over $6 billion in capital. Prior to that, Basil was at Merrill Lynch, where he was a member of a team responsible for over $4 billion in allocated capital across the chemicals, energy, metals, mining and tobacco industries.
Basil graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Economics. While there, he founded Callscribe, the first company to transcribe quarterly earnings calls, and he was part of the McIntire Investment Institute, a student-run long/short fund.
